Who is behind Bag Fit Check

Radif Partners

Independent publisher of a free bag-size and baggage-fee checker for US and UK flyers, built from each airline's own baggage pages

Bag Fit Check is published by Radif Partners, a company that builds free tools on public rules and published figures. It exists for one moment of a trip: the evening before a flight, tape measure in hand, wondering whether the bag on the bed will be waved through at the gate or cost a fee there.

What the site does

You measure your bag once. The checker compares those three sides and that weight with the personal item, carry-on and checked bag limits of every airline on the site at the same time, in inches or centimetres, and says by how much a side is over. The fee calculator adds up a round trip: first and second checked bag, online or at the airport, with the free bags that a co-branded credit card, elite status or military service gives on each airline. Separate tools check a liquid container against the TSA rule or the rule of your UK departure airport, and turn the mAh printed on a power bank into the watt-hours that aviation rules use.

Which airlines

United States: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, Frontier Airlines, Allegiant Air, Hawaiian Airlines. United Kingdom and Europe, as seen from a UK airport: Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, British Airways, Wizz Air, TUI Airways (tui.co.uk), Virgin Atlantic.

Where the figures come from

Each size, weight and fee was read on the airline's own baggage pages, and each airline record carries the date it was read. Where a page could not be opened directly, the latest archived copy of that same airline page was read and the page says so with its capture date. Security and battery rules come from the TSA, the FAA, the Department for Transport on GOV.UK, the Civil Aviation Authority and each UK airport's own security page. No figure comes from a luggage brand, a travel blog or a comparison site. The method page explains how a bag is tested against a limit.

What we are not

We are not an airline, an airport, the TSA, the FAA, the Department for Transport or the Civil Aviation Authority, and no airline sponsors or reviews this site. We sell no luggage, take no booking and earn no commission. The gate agent's sizer and the conditions you accept at booking have the final word.

How the site is paid for

Nothing is sold here and no contact details are collected. If advertising is added one day, it will never sit inside a tool, and it cannot use your measurements, which never leave your browser.

Tell us when something is wrong

Airlines change fees without warning. If a figure differs from the airline's page, write to contact@bagfitcheck.com with the airline and the page. The editorial policy explains how a correction is made and dated. The site has 33 pages of tools and guides.
